Types of Polyamide or Polyolefin Hot Melt Adhesives

Hot melt adhesive

Henkel has been a global leader in adhesive technologies since 1876. So, it’s no wonder that they’re leading the pack when it comes to one-component, low pressure molding products.

The TECHNOMELT range of polyamide and polyolefin hot melt adhesives are purpose made for protecting electronic assemblies under a range of circumstances. They’re all 100% solid, with high yield and low waste, but it’s worth highlighting a few specific products, so you can decide which one works for you.

Why Low-Pressure Injection Molding?

Before we look at a few of the TECHNOMELT products that are available for your electronic component coating needs, it’s worth considering why low-pressure injection molding is a great choice in general.

First, there’s the cost. The aluminum molds themselves are relatively low cost, and the turnaround on tooling and mold making is faster than other methods.

TECHNOMELT products also require no curing, and provide a watertight finished product, further protecting electronic components for their full life cycle.

Then there’s the fact that low pressure methods are safe for delicate electronic components, and finally, that there’s almost no material wastage with this method. So, you get your parts back protected, faster and at a lower cost.

Types of TECHNOMELT

Of course, you should always discuss your specific needs with a specialist, but in general, the TECHNOMELT range of products is great for pcb protection and other electronics applications. Their range of thermoplastic polyamides and hot melt adhesives can be used for a variety of different purposes, and all are made from only the highest quality raw materials, so there’s no risk of unwanted contaminants.

There are moldable options, transparent solutions, and products that can withstand remarkably high (and low) temperatures. To help you make some early choices, however, here are some of the products in the TECHNOMELT range:

TECHNOMELT AS 4226

This clear, UV stabilized product is ideal for applications where transparency is a requirement. It is UV and thermal stabilized too, so there will be minimal colour change to the finished product over time.

TECHNOMENLT PA 2384

An amber colored resin product that performs very well under high heat conditions and is highly solvent resistant – including gasoline. This makes this product a popular choice for the automotive industry, to protect components in vehicles during normal operating conditions.

TECHNOMELT PA 638

If transparency is not a requirement, the black PA 638 product might be a good high performance thermoplastic polyamide. It performs well under temperature conditions ranging from -40 to 125 degrees Celsius and has excellent adhesion properties.

TECHNOMELT PA 668

A bright white product that offers good adhesion to a variety of materials. This product has superb UV and thermal stability and is often used in outdoor applications and in LED products and assemblies.

TECHNOMELT TC 50

This black product is designed as an overcoating solution for heat generating components that require effective thermal management. It can handle temperatures of between -40 and 140 degrees Celsius.

Perfect for Overmolding

Whether you choose one of these TECHNOMELT products or something else from the extensive range, there really is a product for every use case. Whether it’s indoors or out, on cars or other components, these Henkel products are considered the industry leaders.

The shock, heat, cold and UV resistance of these products is well known in the industry, and combined with the low-pressure application process, there’s very little that comes close.

So, if you’re looking for something that sets the benchmark in electronic adhesives and coatings, you’ll almost certainly find it here, among the TECHNOMELT family of products. But feel free to contact us or browse our full catalog of products to find the right one for your needs.
